Sodam soon recovered at the end of the war.Īfter the events of the war, the Guardians requested Kyle Rayner to assist Sodam in adjusting to his new role as Ion. Although Ion fought courageously, the lead poisoning and loss of blood began to affect him and he was beaten unconscious. They continued to do battle, each drawing blood from their opponent. Ion tried to escape, only to have Prime knocking him into a cemetery. Superboy-Prime took the opportunity to spear him with several uranium rods, severely weakening him. While the two traded blows, Ion was thrown into a nuclear power plant, with its walls lined with lead, this caused him to be weaken and his ring had create a shield and process the lead poisoning to cure him. The two battled each other fiercely, sending them through different areas of New York City. Sodam was then chosen as the new host for the Ion Entity by the Guardians, and fought Superboy-Prime on Earth. Sodam later destroyed the core of Ranx, ending the battle of Mogo. During the Sinestro Corps' assault on the Green Lantern planet Mogo, Sodam took command of the team sent to stop Ranx the Sentient City from destroying Mogo. Salakk singled out Arisia Rrab to keep an eye on the newly graduated Lantern Yat. The Guardians of the Universe were aware of Sodam Yat's role in Qull's prophecy in which they tasked Lantern Salakk from keeping the prophecy from coming to pass. On the night he was supposed to leave, a Green Lantern Ring attached itself to him, and Sodam joined the Green Lantern Corps.Īt the onset of the Sinestro Corps War, Sodam Yat was among a group of Lanterns gathered by Kilowog to strike back against Sinestro's forces attacking in Space Sector 2263. He then spent several years rebuilding Tessog's damaged spaceship to escape Daxam for good. This caused his true memories to resurface and Sodam became enraged and disgusted of his people. During a class field trip to a museum, Sodam saw an anti-alien diorama showing Tessog's stuffed corpse holding a rock in a museum diorama, attacking a Daxamite. When his parents discovered this, they had Tessog killed and Sodam Yat brainwashed into believing that Tessog's people were invaders. Sodam was able to communicate with the alien, named Tessog, and befriended him despite the language barrier. Heading to the crash site, he found a wrecked spaceship, with the pilot still alive. His father Diro Yat tried to discourage this, but during a meteor shower, Sodam saw a spaceship crash by a mountain not far from his home. Abin Sur was distrustful of that prophecy as he doubted the truthfulness of Qull.Īs a child, Sodam Yat was fascinated by the stars, despite Daxam's xenophobic culture.

Despite this, in Qull's prophecy, he would still be defeated as part of the final destruction of the Green Lantern Corps. As a Daxamite (a race with inherent Kryptonian-like powers) with a Power Ring, he would be nearly unstoppable.

He was mentioned in passing to Abin Sur by a demon named Qull of the Five Inversions, who had been imprisoned on the planet Ysmault by the Guardians of the Universe.
